Your school newspaper can be produced at no cost to your school. It can become a fundraiser for school equipment, a showcase of school talent and an entertaining educational project.
We have combined innovation, practicality and assistance to give students the opportunity of a lifetime, the chance to publish, edit, photograph, write and star in their own printed newspaper. This is the ideal programme for your students. They will gain real knowledge and understanding of accounting, journalism, sales, photography and marketing while working on a project that is proven to show real results and generate a sense of unity and community spirit within your school.

It will teach participants how to run a small business and deal with banks, companies and members of the public, it will give them experience in journalism, sales and marketing, accounting, photography, communication skills. All real life work experience that will assist them when they leave school. Surplus funds can be used by the school to pay for computer equipment, sports equipment or donate the funds raised to a charity of your choice.

CERTIFICATE OF ACHIEVEMENT FOR ALL CONTRIBUTORS

We will supply a signed certificate of achievement on completion of your first newspaper, this can be used as part of the pupils CV when applying for a job.

Employers always look for “hands on” experience from job applicants. This certificate will prove that the students that participated in this project gained experience in journalism, accounting, publishing, management and sales.

HOW CAN YOU PRODUCE A NEWSPAPER AT NO COST TO YOUR SCHOOL?

How will we pay for this?

There are a number of ways of funding this project. 20 adverts from local businesses, shops, companies or sponsors @ €50.00 each will raise €1,000.00

Sales of newspaper, each pupil pays €1.00 a copy, sell 400 copies for €400.00.

Parents/guardians of pupils can advertise their companies/businesses, if 3% of parents have access to advertising in a school of 400 pupils this will generate €600.00

With a little hard work and some luck your pupils could generate over €1,500.00 in revenue in a very short space of time. The opportunity to generate profit with this project is clearly evident.

Selling 20+ adverts/sponsorship packages @ €50.00 each is not as difficult as it may seem, local companies are always willing to support a worthwhile project for a small sum of money, this is doubly so when they are supporting community projects.
